Decom Solutions personnel have amassed a wealth of decommissioning experience over a 25 year period working across various levels of the supply chain (Operators, Contractors, Consultants).

We offer flexible and bespoke teams built to deliver decommissioning solutions using a wide pool of associates and strategic alliances. Our 30+ Associates are individuals with:

  • Deep decommissioning knowledge and experience founded on actual North Sea and international decommissioning projects, or

  • Transferable offshore and onshore operational knowledge and experience

Decommissioning Project Experience

 

  • Strategic and end of field life planning, cost estimation and liability assessment, engineering management and assurance, liaison with regulatory bodies and project execution management

 

  • Management of Appraise/early Select for decommissioning of 5 structures, 43 wells and associated pipelines in the Moray Firth, total project value >£500 million

 

  • Management of company decommissioning liability across its UK portfolio, including security agreement / letter of credit activities

 

  • Developing the decommissioning cost procedure and model for financial reporting purposes

 

  • Development of end of field life / decommissioning strategy and alignment with project delivery processes 

 

  • Development of approved decommissioning programme for 5 platforms and pipelines in the Moray Firth

 

  • Development of approved decommissioning programme for subsea field in UK central North Sea

 

  • Execution of facilities decommissioning scope for subsea field in central North Sea including FPSO demobilisation, pipeline and riser cleaning and recovery, subsea structure recovery, post decommissioning survey and site clearance verification, close out report preparation

 

  • Provision of decommissioning knowledge and advice to Operator’s operations in Norway and SE Asia

 

  • Participation in Oil & Gas UK Limited’s industry forums and work groups to shape the future direction of industry thinking and to capture best practice and lessons learnt 

 

  • Member of a multi-operator work group which worked together with DECC (now BEIS) to produce a template for a streamlined Decommissioning Programme

  • Managed the technical work programme for topside and jacket removals as part of an ongoing iconic decommissioning project in the UK Northern North Sea in accordance with the Operators project delivery model

 

  • Managed the Define phase/FEED study for the removal of a 23,000 tonne topsides from a concrete gravity base structure, including both heavy lift and single lift technologies

 

  • Assisted in the development of contracting and execution strategies for the topside and jacket removals phases

 

  • Led a joint Co-Venturer technical assurance task force in the assessment of single lift technologies

 

  • Co-developed the workscope for the environmental and drill cuttings survey scopes and subsequent results assessment

 

  • Participated in key IRG and stakeholder engagement sessions 

​

  • Led Decision Quality Analysis assessments for a number of key project recommendations including extent of jacket removal, removal of GBS risers, tall structures, cell top debris etc.

 

  • Managed the technical work programme for the Identify & Assess phase for the decommissioning of the above facilities plus pipelines and subsea infrastructure

​

  • Part of the Gate review team for the Define-Execute phase for the Inde field decommissioning project

Removal Contractor Project Experience

​

  • Decommissioning Manager for a major North Sea removals contractor

​​

  • Technical/engineering bid coordinator for the survey, preparation, removal, transportation and disposal of a 1600t subsea template in 300m water depth in Norway, contract awarded and completed

 

  • Technical/engineering bid coordinator for the survey, preparation, removal, transportation and disposal of a 8000t jacket and tripod structure in Norway, contract awarded and completed

 

  • Engineering study manager for the removal of a 5,000 tonne jacket in Norway 

Consultant Experience
